Synopsis

A group of Argentine guerrillas plot to kidnap the US ambassador to use him as leverage to negotiate political prisoners’ release in Paraguay. Considering his close ties to the embassy, they ask Dr. Plarr to help them with the plan, whose father is one of those prisoners. The operation takes place, but they mistakenly kidnap the honorary British consul Charlie Fortnum, an alcoholic and very politically insignificant. Colonel Perez is in charge of the kidnapping case and intends to determine what Dr. Plarr has to do with it.

About the Performance

This play was an adaptation of the novel The Honorary Consul by Graham Greene, written and directed by Mohammad Yaghoubi. With its minimal and straightforward miseenscène, the challenge posed by this play was conveying the dramatic moments with the least movement and exaggeration.
