Synopsis

A widow man named Dr. Wangel is married to Elida; A woman who has spent most of her life in a lighthouse in the heart of the sea. Wangel wants to tame Elida, but the arrival of a stranger from the sea tempts Elida to return to the sea.

About the Performance

I have always been interested in feminism and the definition of freedom from women’s viewpoint in a patriarchal society, especially since it has always been a sensitive subject in Iranian society. This play, which is an adaptation of Ibsen, was a display of women’s non-violent repression and questioning of a seemingly balanced situation. I directed this play as a practical work for my master’s thesis, and it was made available for the public with few changes to the cast and design.
