Synopsis

Uncle Vanya and her niece Sonya spend their lives idling around and working on the estate of Professor Sberbryakov, the husband of the late Vanya’s sister. The professor and his new young wife, Yelena, have come to see them, and now Vanya has fallen in love with Yelena. On the other hand, their family friend Dr. Astrov, who usually wanders around, also falls in love with the young Yelena, while Sonya burns in the fire of the doctor’s love in private. During these rivalries and love failures, the story culminates when the professor announces that he wants to sell the land for investment.

About the Performance

Dr. Astrov is the most favorite character I have played. I believe every actor is tempted to play his role. A permanently trapped character between effort and indolence, love and despair, and indifference and guilt can pose a significant challenge to the actor.
